Complete Strangers Wave at Me!

I'm guessing it's along the same path as the Macintosh. When you buy a Mac, you don't buy a computer, you buy into a community. About 10 months ago we bought a new car (second hand, but well worth it). As our family is expanding, we decided either to go for an MPV or an Estate. Well we narrowed it down, and found the ideal car which left the competition behind.

The Fiat Multipla is by far the ugliest car on the planet. My friends call it the pope-mobile, however I either call it a duck billed platypus, or (because of the colour of the car, and my uncle's history with gerry anderson) Thunderbird 2.

I have to admit, that when I first bought the car, and drove it around, it made me beam with delight, and I quite often had urges to wave at other multipla drivers as they passed by. However, my wife managed to surpress those urges in me. But even now, there's other multipla drivers that happily wave at me for no other reason than we have the same type of car, and are completely over the moon about it.

As I said before, it's the same sort of issue as with Macs, when you start using them, you just can't give them up. But with the Multipla story, it may have a shorter lifespan than expected. Fiat have changed the ugly part of the car...

It's no longer that ugly, but at the same time, I feel it loses it's identity. Despite it being a fantastic car, I fear that may not now be enough. But please feel free to give me a wave in your Multipla as you drive by!

Long Time, No See.
Ok, ok let's see what's been happening since May...
Both our boys (Thomas and Reuben) have grown and developed a fair bit, and now we're expecting our third (from the scans we think another boy).
Reuben, I've mentioned, was diagnosed as Hemi-Plegic, but he's an absolute raving looney none the less. He's as stubborn as a rock, and then some, which is good for his situation, but sometimes hard for us to deal with.
Thomas we think may have something along the lines of 'Semantic Pragmatic Language Disorder' Which means he has a good intelligence, but bad social skills. We had a school photo taken of the boys, and they look absolutely fantastic. I wouldn't swap them for any other child in the world.

Summer Hols were fantastic at Bible week, and I'm looking forward to next years too.

My old Mac died (Blue & White G3), so it got replaced with an eMac, which... I've probably mentioned already.

I dropped and broke my old Treo 600, which was given to me in the first place. Well gutted, it's been one of the most useful things to me recently. I sent it off through insurance, and they lost it! so I got a brand spanking new one instead off them Woohoo. So the first thing I did when I had it was to get hold of a rock solid case for it!!!

Now the biggie. I've been offered a job starting next year. It's not been finalised yet, and it may fall through, however it's the same pay, but a more relaxed environment. Taking advantage of my Graphic skills, also managing a small network of Macs and PC's. I'll be so happy to finally get out of my current job, where I'm not even appreciated for all I do. It'll be interesting to see who takes my role as Mac Guru after I'm gone.

Aw heck, I'm always at the end of an eMail.

Small Update...

Just downloaded a nifty little Mac Blogger tool called 'MarsEdit' which will hopefully help me keep this a bit more up-to-date.

Lots been going on, lots to talk about... but it's late, and I'm going to bed. G'night

Look at my Booby

Thought I'd catch you offguard with that one. I recently installed a database system on my webspace that can store bookmarks, contacts, todo's, memo's...etc. I was always frustrated when chatting with friends that I never had 'that link' that showed 'that cool thing'. Whether I was at home or at work, it was always at the wrong location. Plus there were times when I'd found a link to a download at work that I wanted to try at home, so I'd email it, then forget about it, then think about it 2 months later, and be completely unable to retrieve that email.

So I came across this little PHP setup someone had created called 'Booby', which not only allows you to store bookmarks, but all those other things too, PLUS you can have multiple users on it, AND you can share your data if you like. If you want to sign up for a free account on my site, go here...

Okay, some heavy stuff now. My youngest son, Reuben (10 months old) was diagnosed with Hemiplegia yesterday. It's something that is going to affect him for the rest of his life and it's going to be difficult for him to develop physically on the left hand side of his body. He could end up with a limp.

But we're a God fearing family, and Reuben is a miracle child to boot. We were trying for a child for a few months when my wife was diagnosed with polysistic ovaries. This meant it was difficult for her to control her weight, and that she would have difficulties conceiving. A month or so later, there was a period in our church where the Holy spirit was healing people. Naomi (my gorgeous other half) didn't want to go up for prayer, and said she'd go only if God asked her to. Low and Behold, a moment later, a word of knowledge for healing came up for "women with problems with their ovaries". Well, now she had no choice, God had spoken directly into the situation. She went up for healing, and then a few weeks later we were celebrating a bun in the oven.

The miracle didn't stop there. With our firstborn, Naomi had an emergency C-section, and so there was an extremely high chance of that happening again with Reuben. Needless to say, Naomi didn't want that. True to form, Reuben came on the expected day, with a natural birth.

God's working in Reubens life, and this Hemiplegia, despite being 'incurable' is not gonna get in the way!

Okay, okay, it's been far too long since I posted anything, and to be honest there's been plenty to post about.

Firstly, I thought my 5 yr old Mac had died on me, so I went out and bought a new eMac. Then I found my Mac was working!!! THEN, 1 week after buying the eMac, Apple upgraded the model so it was 25% faster, and £100 cheaper!!!

We've also had a new car - well I say new, it's second hand - (nicknamed 'Thunderbird 2') it's ugly on the outside, but fantastic inside. Plus we've had a new sofa too. My old Bike was nicked, so that's been replaced with a new one, and someone gave me their old phone (which brand new would be worth £470). So I'm feeling brand-spanking-new-happy.

My oldest son (3 and 3 quarter years old) has started to learn how to flirt. It's funny watching him, but we don't know where he gets it from... seriously!

My youngest son is defective. Just kidding, I love him to bits, but his left arm is always tight and tense, and he doesn't use it much at all. So we've got some exercises to do with him to help. It's all fun and games in the Knight clan I tell ye!

Microsoft Vs MikeRoweSoft
www.mikerowesoft.com
I cannot believe the arogance of Microsoft... (wait a minute... yes I can!). They are taking a 17 year old lad to court over the domain name he registered for himself. Mike Rowe couldn't believe his ears when Microsoft offered him $10 as a settlement. He was so furious that he demanded $10,000 instead. So the whole thing is going to court as Microsoft claim it's an infringement on copyright.

Apple eMac Upgrade Guide

Found this well cool link, on upgrading an eMac. For those who say Macs aren't upgradable, read and enjoy. This guy managed to overclock the processor to 1.33Ghz (from 800Mhz). it makes me feel like getting a second hand eMac and doing the same. :)

Mail v1.3.2 Well, I've finally released my Mail.app v1.3.2 emulator. There's a few loose ends that need to be tied up (things I've missed, or gone wrong). I then need to work on a help secion to acompany it.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow. Why you ask? it's Macworld expo time! should be viewing from 5pm GMT. Steve Jobs is doing the keynote again(which is always a good thing, as he loves announcing the new products). there's the rumours of the new mini ipod, and one wild one of a TiVo type set top box!

getting excited tho!

techietim - Mac Support Site
Well I've done the downgrade!, and boy it looks nice!!!

there's something somewhat relaxing about not having that "busy" look all the time, and the splash graphic I came up with is well pleasing. I've managed to get all the basic pages (contact, mac news etc...) all sorted now, and someone suggested a "donations" option... well... what have I got to lose?

The contact page has been specifically set up to avoid spiders and spambots (have a look at the source if you want to know how), and the blog... well that links here!

I've thrown my old classic emulators onto the emu page, there's a few loose ends, but I've planned on tying them up properly. I've also decided on extra features for each emulator...
Where you can download the application,
Specific info on the app and version,
Where do I find...?
How do I...?
Glossary
and the complementary links back to the emupage and homepage.

I've also made a list of apps I want to add... including the 4 main versions of OS X (including the system prefs).

I'm trying to scrape every spare moment into getting my fame back, and on occasions I've been up till 2-3am. Coupled with the fact that my boys are going through a phase of waking up all through the night (one of them's teething, so you can't blame him)... makes me a very tired man!

g'night..........zzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
